Wolves, dogs. Dogs, wolves. Close kin, though, always pitted as mortal enemies. Strict and Merciless wolves, always pitted as the 'bad guy', while the dogs, loyal to man kind, 'mans protectors' is always portrayed to be the savior of the story. There is no real good and bad in this story. Try as you might, you can not pin the chaos, and hatred, that has caused near extinction of a species, on either of the closely related species. Humans, can hold the blame though.

A small town, not much city wise. More a place, for snow, fishing, hunting, and wolves. Yes, the small town, was rather well known, for sitting just near a wolf territory. A non-reservation wolf territory. One of the few claims of the wolves, that hadn't been staked off as protected. God save the wolves that lived in this rejoin, near the small town, that was off just about any map you looked at. Of course, this story starts off just as any other. The humans and wolves were fine with their lives. The early inhabitants, had no trouble with their wild neighbors, who kept to themselves, always out and away from the humans lands, and their whipped 'cousins' the humans dogs.

It dosen't take long, for house pets, to find their way out, and get in to trouble, as one should know, trouble finds those who look for it. It just so happened that the 'prized' rust red Siberian husky, that left his home, to venture to the wilds, seeking out those that smelled so foul, that it made his hair stand on end, with just a faint wiff. That 'prized' husky found them all right. Found one of the underlings of the wolf ranks, and was quickly made a mess of. Of course, you should know how this part of the story goes. The owner of this 'prized' husky finds the tattered caracas, the flesh devoured to cease the burning hunger from the cold winter famine that had taken control of the underling wolf that stumbled upon the unlucky husky, and it became open season on the clan of wolves that called their home next to the town of humans.

With no form of animal rights, and yadda yadda places turned onto the slaughtering of the native wolves, the hunting went on. On and on. Generations after the wolves of the original pack had been killed, or those that managed to survived, fell from old age, their places taken by their decedents, the war raging between the humans of the town and the wolves, had stopped. As far as the humans were concerned, the wolves were long past dead. The wolves, forced to become more crafty, just in order to live longer than two years of age, stayed out in the back country of their terra, as far away from the humans and the dogs, that had come to be born with the hate for wolves.

Years. Yes, many years, as much as thirty perhaps, passed since the fude between the domestic and the wild had started. A new factor enters the age old war of mans best friend the dog, and the mortal enemy, the wolf. Dogs, no longer wanted by their humans are dropped off into the empty streets of the town. As the human numbers decline, the un-wanted, homeless dog number sky-rocket. Wolves in this region, were nearly gone. Numbers only reaching a maximum of six. The spring came, as did a turning point for the wild wolves. Incest breeding, causing much defects the spring before, just is not going to suffice for the wolves. While some may stick to it... the others, they get smart. What else, are the un-wanted dogs of the city good for?

Three generations past this turning point, the wild wolf, is not much different than the domesticated dog. Now, with few pet dogs, and many, many strays, the town has become a place known for its wolf-hunting and stray dog population. Though the wolves and dogs, continually fight this never-ending war with one another, the wolves, have lost their power. They are no longer towering over their opponents, no longer, are super-powers compared to them. Most wolves, are no longer pure. The new generations, of the city's street dogs, and the pack wolves, are mixed heavily with both genes in them. Despite their grown likeness, the wolves and dogs, still set out to eliminate one another.

Its time...to enter this age old battle....
